Real name: Eugene West

American composer and lyricist, vaudeville singer, pianist, and publisher, whose songs include "Ev'rybody Shimmies Now," "Broadway Rose," "When You're Alone," and "You Know You Belong To Somebody Else." In the early days of his career, he was a protégé of Charles K. Harris. He performed with singer (and his wife) Violet Bird from 1926 to 1929.
