Czech symphony orchestra, originally established in 1943 as “Pražský filmový orchestr” or “Pragfilmorchestr”. Conducted mainly by František Belfín (1955–1983) or Štěpán Koníček (1956–1991), among others. Appeared in thousands of Czech and Slovak films as well as in numerous foreign productions. Since the late 1960s the orchestra also maintained a rock/jazz rhythm section.
