Real name: Maurice Georges Dantec

Maurice Georges Dantec (born June 13, 1959 in La Tronche, Grenoble, France - died June 25, 2016, Montreal, Quebec, Canada) was a French-born Canadian cyber punk science fiction writer and musician. Living in Paris in the late 1970s he founded the band État d'Urgence which would become Artefact (1977-1982) in which he played keyboards. He would later focus on his writing career, and emigrated to Canada in 1998. Dantec also worked with Richard Pinhas in the Gilles Deleuze tribute project Schizotrope, which released 3 albums, with No One Is Innocent (in 1997) and with Dead Sexy Inc. (in 2007).
