Featuring Sam Lakeman, Sean Lakeman, and Seth Lakeman, these three brothers from the western edge of Dartmoor, Devon all played music from an early age with their parents in The Lakeman Family Band, and went on to branch out in the early 90s as The Lakeman Brothers, releasing their first album, 3 Piece Suite (self-penned with trad. based instrumentals and two songs sung by their good friend Kathryn Roberts), before they had even left school in 1994. Later that same year they were invited by two Yorkshire based singers, Kate Rusby and the aforementioned Kathryn Roberts, to join them as a backing group on a tour of Portugal. The five musicians would later form the band Equation (4).
