Danish underground band active around 2002/03-2007/08. Originally named Vildnis, but forced to change it to avoid confusion with Vildnis, they briefly took the name [bortset] before settling on The Modesty. Their music was a blend of alternative rock, noise pop, post-punk and shoegazer. In 2004 they came second in the Danish amateur music competition Live Contest DK - between winners Alphabeat, then named Sodastar, and third-placers Volbeat.

In 2007/08 Sunna Jonsdottir quit the band, while the rest teamed up with Henrik Waldemar Hald to form the equally short-lived math rock/post-punk band Up In Arms! Lars Buch later formed the duo Trust with the aforementioned Henrik Hald and is also a member of Chainsaw Eaters.
