The Ensemble 1684, founded by Markus Berger and the director of the Leipzig Gewandhaus Choir Gregor Meyer and artistically led by the latter, is primarily dedicated to the care of pre-Bach Baroque music. Central to this are middle-German composers whose works are performed less frequently or have fallen into oblivion.
