Biography
Philip de Groote
British classical cellist, born in Johannesburg.
He had his first cello lessons at the age of six and later entered the Royal College of Music where he studied with Eileen Croxford, then with William Pleeth and Janos Starker.
He co-founded the Chilingirian String Quartet in 1971 with violinist Levon Chilingirian.
His nephew Rudi De Groote is also a professional cellist.
