In 1973, Gerardo Manuel created an interesting musical ensemble called C.V.P. -which means in Spanish language, strings, brass and percussion; in this one played a number of great Peruvian musicians. "¿Quien Es El Mayor?" Was the only album recorded under this name between mid-1973 and early 1974, and was finally released in 1974.

The album brings cover versions and own songs. Gerardo Manuel added new lyrics composed by him to the cover versions performed, while the arrangements were made by Rafael "Pocho" Purizaga. The recording of this album was attended by the musicians Oscar Stagnaro and Ramon Stagnaro, Pablo Luna Mansilla and his wife, Walter La Madrid, Karl Seibt, Enrique Ego Aguirre, Jorge Pomar, Lucho Calixto, Antonio Alzamora, Hugo Alvites and others.
