British jazz composer, pianist, and band leader of trio, quartet, and quintet. Despite being a commended forward-thinking musician of the British jazz scene, and working with artists such as Cream (2), his albums did not sell well, and he exhibited increasingly erratic behavior throughout the second half of the 1960s, eventually drowning in the River Thames.
