Danish composer, organist and folk music collector (1801-1880)
Apart from several pieces of incidental music, a cantata, solo piano works, and songs, he published the psalm collection "Melodier til Salmebog til Kirke- og Husandagt og til Evangelisk-kristelig Salmebog" (1852-53) and the folk song collection "Folkesange og Melodier, fædrelandske og fremmede, samlede og udsatte for Pianoforte (published in expanding editions from 1842 to 1871). The last edition comprises eleven large volumes, and includes folk songs in Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, German, English, French, Italian, and also Russian folk songs in German translation.
