From the insert notes: "The Deutschmeister Band was formed as the regimental band of Austria's royal infantry regiment, the Hoch-und-Deutschmeister No. 4. The year was 1741, and Empress Maria Theresa had decreed that each regiment of her army should have its own band to play for dress parades and to lead the regiment into battle. The Deutschmeister Band held its first parade in Milan in 1741 and first led its regiment into battle in 1743, when Field Marshall Traum's Austrians and Piedmontese attacked the Spaniards at Campo Santo."
