Faskil

Real name: Jean-Christophe Detrain

Effective period / Period of releases: 2007 - 2009

Born in Brussels (Belgium), Faskil started to show interest in music by messing around with Trackers on PC. These basic composition software allowed him to make his first steps in sound crafting.

In 1995, he teams up with fellow Radio Campus partner in crime El Borbah to form the band Bump & Grind. They release their first album, deCreate, on newborn Belgian label Exit Records. The second album, Init Sequence, is released in 1998 on another Brussels based label, Sub Rosa. A blend of massive cinematic beats and weird click'n'cut, it also features remixes from Scanner and Third Eye Foundation.

Bump & Grind turns to BNG in 2000 for the release of their third installment: Abstract Theme Variations, featuring some Autechre-inspired electronica as well as heavy stomping and distorted beats. ATV2 follows in 2002, as a sequel, with brand new tracks and remixes from Speedy J, Gez Varley (aka G-Man, half of LFO), Mick Harris and Elixir.

After remixing The Box from Orbital for the compilation The Fire This Time, the BNG project was put on hold as both founding members got busy with their solo projects. Faskil came back to production in 2005 and started releasing new remixes in 2006 for Ascension and Composure Records. Gaining major support from the progressive scene, Faskil is now working on new remixes and brand new material for a 2007 release.

Faskil is also hosting a monthly 2 hour show on ETN.fm and launched the Connected parties in Paris, with fellow DJs Boombatcha & Birdy.
