Faustino Santalices
Real name: Faustino Santalices Pérez
Galician musician, performer of hurdy-gurdy and bagpipes (Bande, 1877 - Madrid, 1960). He's considered as the most important hurdy-gurdy researcher from the first half of the 20th Century. He wrote the first Spanish book about that instrument (1956). He has made several recordings of bagpipes and hurdy-gurdy, from the late 20s. He was also an instrument maker and a truly authority in oral tradition. He was an usual guest collaborator with Coral De Ruada De Orense since 1922. Father of Faustino Santalices Hijo.
