The Jazz Track CD compilation is made up of two unrelated studio sessions. The first ten tracks, recorded on Dec 4th & 5th, 1957 in Paris, is devoted to the suite of Miles Davis' music for the soundtrack to the French film L'Ascenseur Pour l'Échafaud. Tracks 11 to 14 represents only a portion of the May 26th, 1958, New York studio session of Miles's sextet that has since been reissued in full on CD. Tracks 15 to 17 are bonus tracks, recorded March 16th, 1956, they are absent from Jazz Beat's LP version of Jazz Track.
