"what calms me down?" was written in the fall 1993, recorded in the summer of 1994, and originally released on cassette in spring 1995. thank you to all who helped, all calming and crucial people, and to the spirits and waftings in. for mom and for gomorahtic banty rooster because he knows, because he makes me laugh so hard my chest almost pops open, and he read funny story stuff to me when I was sickly ill.

this release includes two extra songs: "the grass is parting" and "song for a boy" which were both recorded at the time of "what calms me down?" but were not an official part of it.
