- Recorded 2 & 8 May 1958 in Kingsway Hall, London
- The 1812 Overture features real cannon shots, which were probably recorded elsewhere

- This was the first issue in Decca's SXL series
- No corresponding mono issue in the UK, but issued in mono on the London label for the US market

Advertised as a new release in "Decca Stereo LPs for Issue 27th August", Gramophone magazine, September 1958.
