Modern Jazz Series

Series primarily produced by Tony Hall and first appearing on the Tempo (14) label circa 1955 after their acquisition by British Vogue Records Limited and shortly before their subsequent renaming to Tempo Records (5)

Identified by either the words "Modern Jazz Series" or purple and white labels (instead of the standard blue and white labels)

The earliest modern jazz records on Tempo (14) did not include "Modern Jazz Series" printed on their labels, and used standard blue and white labels (e.g. EXA 11 The Great Don Rendell)
Some early modern jazz records still used blue and white labels, but did include "Modern Jazz Series" printed on their labels (e.g. EXA 20 Don Rendell Quintet)
Later records instead used purple and white labels, and for a short time still included "Modern Jazz Series" printed on their labels (e.g. EXA 29 Victor Feldman Big Band)
Most records from Tempo Records (5)' Modern Jazz Series do not include "Modern Jazz Series" printed on their labels, and instead are only differentiated by their purple and white labels
