In the early hours of September 25/26th 1973, Ingeborg Bachmann's apartment caught fire. Although she was rushed to hospital, she eventually succumbed to her injuries, 21 days later on October 17th 1973. It has been suggested that her death may have been hastened by withdrawal symptoms she'd been experiencing from a drug habit of which her doctors had not been aware. She is buried at the Annabichi cemetery in Klagenfurt, Austria. (1) - "Wimbledon F.C."
