"The 23 folk songs included in this record have been chosen from among 76 folk songs harmonized for chorus by the famous Turkish composers Cemal Reşit Rey, Ulvi Cemal Erkin, Necil Kâzım Akses, Ferit Alnar, Bülent Tarcan, Nevid Kodallı, Ferit Tüzün, Sabahattin Kalender, Muammer Sun and Cenan Akın within the framework of the Program of Culture and Art ogranized to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the founding of the Yapı ve Kredi Bankası.
The songs have been sung by the Chorus of the Istanbul Opera under the direction of Muhittin Sadak and Cenan Akın."
