Album Info

Release Date: 2006

Label: Minos

The first 8 tracks are Greek Folk Music, while the second 8 tracks are Turkish Folk Music.

The notes for the Greek music items indicate that tracks 2, 4, 6 & 8 were recorded in July of 1960, while tracks 1, 3, 5 & 7 were recorded in March of 1962.
The notes for the Turkish music items indicate that all but tracks 14 & 15 were recorded in July of 1960, while tracks 14 & 15 were recorded in March of 1962.

I could not find any notes to indicate that the sound had been remastered digitally or otherwise. The Greek tracks sound free from much noise which could mean that the master tapes were used for the recording. The Turkish tracks have lots of obvious record noise so you can tell that probably the best record source was used and not a master tape when putting this recording together. The LP associated with this item was released in 1991 with this CD being released in 2006. At that time there were many available software on the market being used to help clean up and restore the older vinyl recordings. There is really not any excuse for the noisy tracks on this later CD release.

Printed in Greece.
