Сподіваюся, Валерія Маренич представляти не потрібно – його прізвище відомо всім, кому хоч щось відомо про українські пісні. Так, цього разу він – сам, не в складі славнозвісного тріо. Але, гадаю, це аж ніяк не має засмучувати. Звучить лагідна гітара, звучить теплий голос – чудово. Звучать гарні вірші – і виявляється, що поки-що є спільне повітря для всіх, хто вміє тепло не тільки вбирати, а й віддавати. Віддавати простими прозорими словами, віршами, написаними не задля літератури, а просто тому, що це – правда, це – вірно. Слухаєш – і раптом розумієш, наскільки скучив за ось такими піснями. Раптом розумієш, скільки всіляких відчуттів проходять повз твою увагу – бо треба ж жити скоріше, впевненіше, якомога більш визначено, прямувати до якоїсь там наче світлої мети. А і життя, і мета його – не десь там, а просто тут, просто зараз. І варто хоч інколи забувати про час і швидкість – щоб помічати, щоб не забувати. І цей альбом, у якомусь розумінні – саме такий тайм-аут.---------------
I hope there’s no need to present Valeriy Marenych – everybody who knows at least something about Ukrainian folk songs knows his name. Yes, this time he performs solo, without the glorious trio. But I think this fact should not distress listeners in any way. A gentle guitar and a warm voice sound – they sound nice. Beautiful verses sound – and it turns out that by now there has existed a common air for all who are able not only to take in the warmth, but also to give it. To give it with simple and transparent words and verses composed not for the sake of literature, but simply because it is the truth, it is right. You listen to it – and suddenly you understand how much you miss such kind of songs. Suddenly you understand how many feelings of different kinds pass by your attention – because you should live more quickly, more confidently, as outstandingly as possible, making your way towards the aim that seems to be so light. But life and its aim are not somewhere there, they are right here and right now. And it is worth forgetting about time and speed at least sometimes – in order to notice, in order not to forget. In a certain sense, this album is that kind of a time-out. Out of time.
