А=Б=Б=A was originally recorded and published in 1989 on cassette as the second single of Сигнал. The production incorporates heavy influences of Kraftwerk and contrasts these with abstract experimental electronics. Even though Sergej Plaksin isn't mentioned on the cover, he was the one responsible for creating the bulk of drum programming. This was the first time the band incorporated devices developed by Portnoy himself like the Квартет string machine and the Хюго mini synthesizer - which consisted of two synthesizer modules and a drum module (triggered by Plaksin's 808).
