Soul songwriter - producer, born on 30 August 1929, in Bessemer, Alabama.
His studio was located on the corner of John R. and East Grand (3040). These were some of his studio regulars cutting a couple of sides. Hanks also owned MAH's (his initials) Wheelsville U.S.A., Premium Stuff, Soul (briefly, he sold it to Barry Gordy, who he intensely disliked later) and D-Town Records. Helped start Westbound.
He was shot to death outside the 20 Grand Ballroom in 1970
