Biography

John Ramsay
Professor of Geology by profession and Composer of chamber and orchestral works.
He was born in London on 17 June 1931.
He studied with Timothy Toomey, with the cellist Margit Hegedus and had lessons in harmony and counterpoint.
After his military service he was appointed Professor at Imperial College, the University of Leeds and at the University of Zurich.
He organized the University of London Orchestra and was deputy leader of the Fairfax Orchestra based in London.
After his retirement, he was involved with developing chamber music courses at Cratoule in France.
