American singer, born on December 28, 1910, in Waco, Texas; died 12 Oct 1972 in Chicago, Illinois. He started his career as the lead singer for the Charioteers quartet in 1930. He left the band in 1949 and formed the Billy Williams Quartet. Worked with Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby among others. He retired from music after losing his voice in the early 1960s due to diabetes.
