Peggy Powers

American soprano vocalist and vocal coach based in New YorkPowers was born in Macon, Georgia, but her family moved to Florida when she was two years old. Powers majored in violin at Barry College in Miami, and studied voice at the Juilliard School of Music. She appeared on shows like Holiday Hotel, The Firestone Hour, Hit Parade, and the Kate Smith Show, and started singing with Sammy Kaye in 1952. She recorded with The Robert Shaw Chorale, and Andy Williams. She went on to sing with Dick Jacobs's orchestra, and also recorded children's records. Later on, she started working first as a violin teacher, and then as a vocal coach.
