Canadian poet, novelist, journalist, politician (born 13 November 1938 in Trois-Rivières, QC; died 12 October 1994 in Montréal, QC). A Member of the National Assembly of Québec representing the Mercier riding of Montréal on behalf of the Parti québécois from 1976 until his death in 1994, Gérald Godin was a singular and accomplished figure during a crucial period of Quebéc separatist politics and culture.
