SS20 is a band created by Fred Alpi (Vocals, Bass Guitar), Marie-José Deffais (Synths) and Gilbert Deffais (Drum machines), active from 1982 to 1983, and based in Amiens, France. They had already known each other for a while, because Fred joined them for the last Guerre Froide concert to play the bass before this other French band split up in 1982. They also created together the experimental music distribution label "Front de l'Est".

The band’s name is a reference to the Soviet SS20 missiles, supposedly the main threat to Western Europe in the early 80’s. As the eyes were focused on the eastern front, fascist threats reappeared within the fledgling European Union. This even greater threat was what the band wanted to expose through its music.
