Hawaiian singer and ukulele player. Together with his brother Solomon Ho'opi'i, Richard (Rick) started singing in church and church functions. They soon became professionals, performing at hotels throughout Maui. They had formed the Ho'onaunea Serenaders before simply calling themseves the Hoopii Brothers. While Sol was known for his rugged tones, it was Rick who offered the group's sweet falsettos in such songs as "Ei Nei", "Kupa Landing", and "Hawaiian Rainbow".
