Real name: Ūla Ulijona Žebriunaite

Lithuanian classical viola player.
Lithuanian-born (1974) violist Ula Ulijona began her studies in her own city, Vilnius, later graduating as solo violist at the Musikhochschule Berlin “Hanns Eisler” with Tabea Zimmermann and at the “Basel Academy of Music” with Hatto Beyerle.

Since 1997 she has been First Solo Viola of the Kremerata Baltica – the prestigious chamber orchestra founded and led by violinist Gidon Kremer – with which she has played all over the World.

She is First Viola of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale Della RAI, the Italian National Radio Symphony Orchestra, since 2010.

Ula Ulijona has been awarded many international contests, one of the most important being the “William Primrose” in Chicago. In Munich (Germany) she won the “Dietz-Rose fur die Woche” prize, with the “Sonata for viola and piano” op. 147 by Dmitri Shostakovich.
