Esma Redžepova and her husband Stevo Teodosievski ran an apprentice scheme to train Roma boys in Macedonia as musicians. One such apprentice, accordionist Simeon Atanasov led Esma's band once Stevo died in 1997, and continued to lead the band after Esma's death in 2016, with the scheme's only female apprentice, Eleonora Mustafovska acting as Esma's successor. The band plays Balkan Roma music.
