Invisible Light Agency (now known as ILA) is Eldita Tarani and James Vernon. The group started in 2015 when a mutual friend and musician introduced the duo who quickly bonded over their love for the English/French band Stereolab, along with psychedelia and the creative process. Tarani, originally from Kosovo, was visiting California on a student visa. This left the group with uncertainty but also a mentality to enjoy their time working together since it wasn’t always a constant on-going opportunity. The group learned not to take things for granted with regards to collaborating and writing. While this sparked a sense of urgency, it also paved the way for playfulness with the creative process.

Vernon has built a studio over the years and provides musical foundations. Tarani provides additional musical input on synthesizers and guitars as well as main vocals and lyrics. The songs are a joint effort and co-written. Their style has been described as “future retro, psychedelic pop, and dream pop” and has been compared to Vanishing Twin, Stereolab, Melody’s Echo Chamber and Corridor among their fans and friends alike.
