Founded in 1996 by the songwriting trio of Dunia Best (vocals), Todd Nocera (keyboards), and Aram Sinnreich (bass), the progressive soul collective Brave New Girl was a staple of the New York City scene for two decades. BNG brings its downtown sound from the heart of Harlem to deep Brooklyn, playing soul, jazz and reggae in such venues as the Knitting Factory, Arlene's Grocery, and The Shrine. The released three critically acclaimed, self-produced EPs: NYC (1998), No One Ever Said (2000), and Thanks for Being on the Show (2013). Most recently, the band released two singles produced by Hans Nieswandt in 2019, "Across the Street (Around the World)" and "I Want to Take You to Brazil."
