Indie, shoegaze, wave, post-punk, dream-pop, post-rock – SOFSKY plays a unique blend of these genres and produces a pleasant sound that shifts comfortably from present-day ambiances to the sonic landscapes of the 70s, the 80s, and the 90s, hinting at the likes of Joy Division, The Smiths, Slowdive and Arcade Fire - among others. SOFSKY is a five-piece combo based in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, and is formed by musicians hailing from extensive past musical experiences: Stefano Chiassai (guitars) and Giona Mattei (bass), formerly with the acclaimed post-rock band KOVLO, which toured Switzerland, Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Belgium, and China; Flavio Calaon (keys), member of the duo Shindo and previously of Flanard, and also a soloist; Dimitri A. (drums), an eclectic figure who has played radically different music styles, ranging from vintage goth to vintage rock’n’roll – while producing avant-garde Swiss jazz; and Nick Poretti (vocals), former member of nu-prog band Plain and known for his collaborations with, among others, Re-count and Stendeck.
