Members: Gunter Greffenius, Bernhard Ullrich, Joe Kienemann, Charles H. Hoellering, Hans Lengefeld, Michael Keul, Gerry Hayes

The band was founded in early 2004 by vibraphonist Gunter Greffenius together with Joe Kienemann (piano) and Hans Lengefeld (bass).

Initially, the band performed in a quartet with drummer Gerry Hayes. At the beginning of 2005, Charles H. Hoellering (clarinet) and Michael Keul (drums) joined. Due to the sudden death of Charly Höllering in May 2009, the Munich Swing Stars have continued to play in a quintet with Bernhard Ullrich (clarinet and tenor saxophone) since July 2009
