In 1975 Robert "Bob" Rutman (born 15 May 1931) disbanded his first group Central Maine Power Music Company and started the US Steel Cello Ensemble in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where he lived for 14 years. The Ensemble toured North America and Europe.
In 1989 Rutman relocated to Berlin where he was born.

In April 2019, after a 10-year hiatus and on the occasion of the reissue of their release Noise In The Library, Rutman, Orlansky and then Dorsch –members of their most prolific line-up– reunited to perform several concerts in Germany.
