Biography

Oldfield Opry Band
Effective period / Period of releases: 2001
Members: Jess Grimes, Steve Beyers
The Oldfield Opry began on a cold January night in 1977. It was held in a vacant store building owned by John W. Walker located at the junction of Highways 125 and T in Oldfield, Missouri. The band was made up of four local musicians -- Hank Thompson, Bill Gardner, Steve Beyers and Johnny Walker. After a few months, the crowd had outgrown the venue and fundraising efforts began to build a new building. In December of 1990, the new site -- complete with central heating and air, and seating for up to 200 people -- was ready. The Oldfield Opry Band performs every Saturday night from 7-9 pm.
