Real name: Ernest Jacques Thiel

Swedish banker, industrialist and art collector, born Ernst Jacob Thiel on 18 August 1859 in Norrköping, died 6 January 1947 in Djursholm. At the time around the turn of the century in 1900, he was one of Sweden's richest people; most of his fortune, however, was destroyed by the deflation crisis of 1920-1922, and his final years were spent in relative poverty.

Thiel was also a poet, and a selection of his poems were set to music by Hugo Alfvén.

Maternal grandfather of Susanna Ramel and Helga Henschen, maternal great-grandfather of Mikael Ramel, Lotta Ramel, Magnus Uggla, and Helena Henschen, great-great-grandfather of Jonatan Blom-Ramel.
