Kristina Stobaeus, soprano, was born on September 13, 1942 in Ljuder in Småland, Sweden and made her debut as a singer at the age of three with a song about a wreath of flowers. She trained as a primary school teacher and cantor at the Karlstad College of Education and then went on to become a vocal soloist and pedagogue qualifying from the Malmö Academy of Music in Malmö, the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Franz Schubert Institute in Baden, Vienna.She has given concerts with folk music, church music and romances all over Sweden, as well as singing in many of the countries bordering the Baltic Sea. Together with different instrumentalists, orchestras and choirs or as a soloist, Kristina Stobaeus has performed in many of the European countries. She has also worked as pedagogue, choirleader and producer. For her achievements Kristina Stobaeus has received many scholarships from, among others, the Swedish Institute. She was awarded the Vadstena Culture Prize and the Swedish Gramophone Prize.
