Santa Claus

Effective period / Period of releases: 1967 - 1968

Generally depicted as an elderly, jolly and certainly rotund fellow with a white beard and a red suit (using elves as labourers in his toy factory on the North Pole and dashing around the planet in a sleigh pulled by nine flying reindeer to deliver the goods on Christmas Eve/Day), this is a catch-all "artist" profile for all releases where the performer is credited only as Santa Claus or similar -- including regional, historic, traditional, or linguistic variations.

These would include Kerstman, Saint Nicholas, Saint Nick, Weihnachtsmann, Kersvader, Papá Noel, Père Noël, Babbo Natale, Дед Мороз, Julemanden, and so forth, irrespective whether he's accompanied by elves, Krampus or Rudolph. These do NOT include recordings credited to Sinterklaas, the European bishop character on which Santa Claus is based. Note that both Santa and Sinterklaas can be referred to as Saint Nicholas.

Please use ANVs accordingly.

Santa has a recording career probably spanning back to Thomas Edison's days and, according to urban legend, made use of the Coca Cola company for his modern, americanised image.
