American blues harmonica/slide harp player and native of Port Arthur, Texas. Orta passed away on May 16, 2019, age 61.
Orta began playing professionally at the age of 16 with his group The Bayou Boogie Band. He moved to Austin, Texas in 1979, forming the group The Backdoor Men. This group eventually became his band The Kingpins. In addition to his performance, Orta was a also a songwriter, producer and music educator.
