Born in Chicago but raised in Dubuque, Iowa. While attending Yale, he helped found the regionally-popular early Americana band Wheatstraw. In the mid-70's he was hired a a sideman by former Kingston Trio member John Stewart and eventually became a duo partner. He ceased recording and touring for a few decades to raise his family but has been returning to playing out again nationally and will have a new release in 2017.
