Gene Parsons and Meridian Green formed a dynamic music duo starting in 1986, significantly influencing the country-rock and folk genres. Gene Parsons, a versatile musician known for his time with The Byrds and The Flying Burrito Brothers, brought his talent as a drummer, guitarist, banjo player, and singer. Meridian Green, daughter of folk legend Bob Gibson, complemented the duo with her powerful voice and guitar skills.Their first joint album, "Birds of a Feather," was released in 1988, merging their musical identities into a harmonious unity. The album features a mix of original songs and covers, showcasing their stylistic diversity. Notable highlights include tracks like "Don't Miss Your Water" and "Spoon River," which captivate with their intimate and harmonious arrangements.
The duo frequently performed live and released several albums, including "Live From Caspar" (2001). Their music is renowned for its profound lyrics and the blend of traditional and modern elements. Parsons and Green also collaborated on developing the "Parsons/Green B-Bender," a guitar accessory manufactured by Fender that allows guitarists to produce banjo-like sounds.
