Irish-American songwriter and vaudeville performer.
Born December 5, 1861 Dublin, Ireland or Liverpool, England.
Died July 27, 1938 (aged 76) New York City, New York, USA.
Thornton is primarily remembered today as the composer of the 1898 song, "When You Were Sweet Sixteen".
Bonnie Thornton, his wife, enjoyed success as a singer, and her face was featured on sheet music covers.
