Mexican singer and voice actress (1918–1983). She began her career working with Mario Moreno "Cantinflas" in a popular Mexico City carpa, a tent-like stage. She recorded and performed songs written by Agustín Lara, Luis Alcaráz, Luis Pons, and Armando Manzanero. Some of these were "Volver a empezar", "Golondrina de ojos negros", "Camino verde", "Contigo", "La Zarzamora", "Duerme", "Espinita", and "Solamente una vez". Her most popular song in Spain was "Madrid", a schottische (chotis in Spanish) written by Lara.
