Russian composer, pianist, teacher of composition, music theorist and author (November 25, 1856, Vladimir – June 19, 1915).S.I. Taneyev was a student of Rubinstein and Tchaikovsky, and as a teacher, his many students included Rachmaninov and Scriabine. Not to be confused with the distantly related Alexander Sergeievich Taneyev, who was also a composer.
