Rev. F.C. Barnes (born June 22, 1929 in Rocky Mount, NC – died July 11, 2011 in Greenville, NC) Was Pastor of the Red Budd Holy Church in Rocky Mount. Barnes began singing in quartets when he was 14 years old. He would later record several albums with Rev. Janice Brown, and "Rough Side of the Mountain" became the most popular (remained #1 on the gospel charts for over a year). He recorded a total of 15 albums during his legendary career, in addition to making numerous appearances on recordings with his son, Luther Barnes. He received The North Carolina Folk Heritage Award on September 12th, 2000.
