born April 1902 in Kasur, in the then Punjab province of British India as son of a famous singer, died April 25, 1968 in Hyderabad, India. Hindustani classical vocalist from the Patiala gharana. Khan was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and the Padma Bhushan in 1962.He is the father of Munawar Ali Khan, also a classical singer.
