Devotion

Effective period / Period of releases: 1994

Members: Hans Olav Grøttheim, James Ekgren, Cecilie Hafstad Richards

Norwegian Euro-dance group consisting of singer Silya (Cecilie Hafstad), rapper Jimmy James (James Ekgren) and producer Hans Olav Grøttheim (formerly of YBU and Photon, later a producer for Norwegian pop acts such as Sissel Kyrkjebø and Espen Lind). Devotion released two singles during 1994-95 through Dance Pool. "Makes Me Feel" was a hit in Norway in 1994 and stayed 10 weeks on the national chart (VG-lista), peaking at no. 3, but it failed to make much of an impression internationally. The follow-up "Move Me" saw some radio play nationally but was less successful in the charts than their debut single. An album was planned for release, and a teaser for the album called "Higher" appeared on the "More Music 4" compilation in 1995. However, Silya left the group a few months later. The project was then discontinued, and the album remains unreleased.
