American soul/blues vocalist. Son of the soul/blues singer Johnnie Taylor. Began singing in church as a toddler. In his 20's, he joined his famous father on stage regularly, as a background singer and sometimes as a duet partner. He performed with his father from the mid-'70s until his father's death in 2000, then started his own solo career on the Malaco Records label, which was the same label that his father had recorded with from approximately 1984 - 2000.
